Rachel and Brandon Update

I thought it might be kind of fun to just give you a brief update of the children. They are both so much fun so I would like to share our joy with everyone. Let's start with Rachel.

Rachel will be turning 14 months on July 4. The city is so sweet. They are going to commemorate the occasion with fireworks on the lake and a parade too. How exciting. Rachel has a rather extensive vocabulary now. She can say mama, dada, baby (whenever she hears Brandon cry she looks around saying baby), she also says uh-oh, hi, bye bye, oooh, what's that, and when she wants food she says ahhh. She also imitates barking like a dog. She is very active now. She is walking and is quite proud of herself. She loves books, Baby Einstein, and Blues Clues. She is learning to feed herself with utensils. She loves to give Brandon his pacifier too. Rachel loves playing outside, especially with rocks. She loves going on walks in her stroller and blowing kisses. She also loves to play peek-a-boo. Here is a movie Ben took with his phone of her at dinner one day.

Now on to Brandon. Brandon is 2 1/2 months old and is getting cuter everyday. He has started cooing and I even got him to laugh just a little the other day. He loves when we sing "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" and tickle his tummy/chest. He likes his swing as you will see from the picture below. He is a big eater. He takes 6 ounces of formula every few hours. He generally sleeps through the night. He goes down around seven or eight and sleeps for about eight or nine hours. It is heaven. Brandon loves to be held and cuddled. He doesn't like to be alone, which isn't a problem for me! Here is a cute picture of him as promised:

Ode to the Broken Air Conditioner

Ok so the last few weeks of church have been a little on the warm side. Apparently some kindhearted, well-intentioned, but technologically impaired individual took it upon themselves to fix the air conditioner at the church. The high for the today was forecasted as 98 degrees, and now the church is no place for refuge from the heat. I still have to wear my boot so my left foot was sweating bullets and I had a nice "glisten" on my forehead. It was awful. Tragically, they predict the air conditioning won't be fixed for three to four weeks. We will try to survive this somehow...haha.

Moment of Truth

So I went to the doctor today to see how my foot was progressing. I was really nervous that he would tell me I had done something wrong and had caused further damage. Well we got there and took some x-rays and he said everything was pretty much in alignment again. It hurts to walk on it, so I am still using my crutches, but I should be flying solo within a week or so. We still have to be on the alert watching for increased pain, swelling, etc., in which case I might need to have surgery or something. But for now we are glad to see that things seem to be doing well. Yay!

Fun With Rachel

The other day I was in the bathroom getting ready for the day, and before I knew what was happening, Rachel came in, climbed over the side of the tub, and started playing.

We knew she liked bath time, but who knew she liked the tub without water too?

Last week we bought Rachel her very own toddler bed. We knew she could get out, but we didn't know she didn't know how to get back out. So at 10:00 last night, she woke up and after awhile she was crying. Ben went upstairs to see what was wrong, and she was kneeling by the side of her bed trying to get in. But today she was definitely enjoying her bed, and learned how to crawl in!

As if life couldn't get any busier....

Okay, here we are on day two! I mentioned that we have been running around after two kids and me hobbling with a broken foot. (I have been called four legs and tripod...) Anyway, today in church Ben was extended the call as second counselor in the Elders Quorum presidency. We're excited for this new opportunity- it will be very different from his Elders Quorum experience in Rexburg. Oh boy, here we go again!

So while we are starting our blog I am just going to throw in some cute pictures at random. The picture on my previous post was at my sister's wedding. Rachel held Brandon on her lap and their cousin Hyrum was with them.
This is a picture of our cute little Brandon. He is getting so big and oh so very handsome!

Ben loves hanging out with the kids. This is Rachel's new hair style. She finally has enough hair to do a small ponytail!

Rachel is just running around, getting into everything. She found Ben's wallet... she's getting into it a little early!

Our First Blog!

So we decided it was time to join the wonderful world of blogging. Sadly, I am slightly technologically impaired...so please bear with me! So just to catch up, Ben and I moved our little family to Post Falls, Idaho about a month ago. Since then we have been busy setting up our new apartment, Ben has started graduate school, and I broke my foot. It's been crazy but lots of fun. Rachel and Brandon are getting cuter every day, and I have the pictures to prove it.
